PDC EXEC COMMITTEE ZOOM MEETING
October 10, 2020
Attending: Brian, Sandra, Franco, Gail, Nancy, Ed, Judy, Lee, Nora
Meeting started with chit/chat.
Discussion re member list and whether Ed will proceed with calling members who have not yet paid their 2020-2021 dues. Consensus is he should start doing that as the Club may be needing more funds in the weeks preceding the election.
Brian reported that John Laird was not able to make our last member meeting on October 6. There was then a discussion on why he is appearing on the Progressive door hanger and Santa Cruz United's door hanger.
The club may want to reach out to Biden's transition team to speak for the support of more progressive initiatives, e.g. The Green New Deal and Medicare for All. Nora volunteered to start a write up on Medicare. Franco suggested we be prepared to organize a protest in case the present Administration will not accept the outcome of the voting in November.
We discussed next month's meeting agenda and speculations about Kamala's replacement for Senate. We may want to consider writing to the Governor with this a recommendation for Barbara Lee to replace Harris. It was decided to invite Barbara Lee to our meeting. Sandra will call Ms. Lee to extend an invitation.
Treasurer Nancy reported we have approximately $2,170 in the bank, plus checks she is going to deposit of $350 and new expenses (see next paragraph).
Lee shared that the Vets are hosting a covid-appropriate dinner on Thanksgiving Day, and hopefully using the Civic for the event with tables spaced out enough to meet City requirements. Gail proposed we donate $200 to that effort, and it passed unanimously. Several E-Board members volunteered to help with set up for the dinner.
Next PDC membership zoom meeting: Thursday, November 12 at 6:30 pm
