Voter Registration Drive: DCC will probably have a Get-Out-the-Vote drive that we could join. Should young voters and DMV-registered voters be targeted?
Election Forum on Tuesday, November 19th sponsored by PDC and Santa Cruz for Bernie, for Superior Court Judge, 20th Congressional District, and 1st District County Supervisorial race.
As a club chartered by the DCC, we are not allowed to endorse a Congressional candidate different from the California Democratic Party (Dems) endorsement. We could lose our charter as a Democratic club if we did so. Dems will be endorsing Jimmy Panetta at the convention. Question raised whether we should postpone Forum until after deadline for candidates to file and take out papers. Decided to go ahead with Forum. Voters can cast a ballot for Congressional race, but PDC cannot declare to public an endorsement for a candidate other than Panetta. Ballot for this race will allow a vote for Panetta, Adam Scow or "no endorsement."
Long discussion concerning what losing our charter would mean. Would have to be discussed by a large group of our members at a later time.
Email from Bruce VanAllen concerning the status of Recall signatures validation. Certification will be completed and announced on November 20th. The No on Recall group has been meeting to strategize. Next mtg. on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Treasurer reported our cash balance is now $5,694.
